News on the RMU game – On Sunday January 24, Pitt Johnstown took on the
Robert Morris Colonials (ACHA) team. The final score was 6 to 1 Robert
Morris, however the game was played much closer than the score depicted.
The icecats tallied 30 shots on goal, however they couldn’t seem to find
the back of the net. Robert Morris goalie, Jon Dominick played
outstanding, stopping 29 of 30 shots. Kyle Harnen and Kyle Harnish were
back in the lineup, which definitely made a difference in the depth of the
icecats lineup. Kyle Harnen scored the icecats lone goal in the third
period. Coach Layman on the game, “RMU is a great hockey team this year,
ranked #3 in the Atlantic Region, and will probably end up at Nationals.
We were in the game from start to finish, threw the body around, played
our positions and put up 30 shots on goal. RMU did outplay us, but not by
much. The score could have easily been 4 to 2, instead of 6 to 1. Games
like this happen in hockey. Wes Cramer (in goal for the icecats) played
fantastic stopping 43 of 49 shots, a few breakaways and 2 point blank
one-timers off the back door. Even though we lost the game, I saw many
positives from the team. We are going to work hard this week at practice,
try to clean up a few things in our defensive zone and finish this season
on a winning streak against Gettysburg, West Virginia (twice) and IUP.”
